ROAD TRIP – SANTE FE + SEDONA

Two weeks ago, my family and I took another road trip with our (now) 9 month old! Last time we took a long trip, Jack was about 4 months old. I wasn’t sure how he was going to be this time now that he is older, but he did so well! He slept majority of the time and as long as he was fed and changed, he was pretty content. At the end of this post, I will include what we brought for Jack and items that made the trip a lot easier 🙂 My dad’s wife, Catherine, turned 60 and her daughters planned a surprise birthday trip for her…

    TRAVELING WITH A BABY

Mid July, our family took a road trip with my in laws to Wisconsin for a little family reunion. We originally planned on flying but with COVID-19 and it’s ongoing uncertainty, we decided it would be safer to drive, especially with a 5 month old. I actually love a good road trip and all of the fun stops + sights in between. Webster, Wisconsin (the final meeting point for the reunion) is about 16 hours from Dallas, TX and I know what you may be thinking – “16 hours in the car….with a baby? You’re crazy.” But it was a really fun experience, we learned a lot and most importantly,…

WEEKEND IN LA JOLLA + CORONADO

Last weekend, our friends Russell and Tara got married in beautiful La Jolla, California and we were lucky enough to be able to attend! This was only my second time visiting and I can already say San Diego is one of my favorite U.S. cities, if not my favorite. The weather is unbeatable and the beaches, shops, restaurants and nearby cities/attractions make it the perfect weekend getaway.   John and I stayed at an Air B&B right there in La Jolla in an area called Bird Rock, just a few minutes from the beach. Our bed and breakfast was walking distance to a few coffee shops/restaurants and we rented scooters…

    MAUI

Maui is unlike any destination I have ever been to and truly is the most beautiful place I have ever visited. This trip has been on my bucket list for years and I am so lucky to have been able to travel here with my husband. Maui was so much more beautiful than I could have ever imagined and I dream of the day of visiting again. Pure paradise. WHERE TO STAY: Before visiting Maui, I did a ton of research on the best places to stay, location, prices, etc. I talked to a few friends who were familiar with Maui and between their advice and online sources, it sounded…

    IN FLIGHT ESSENTIALS

Packing for a long vacation can be so exciting, but so overwhelming and time consuming. Process of elimination comes into play (including which items of John’s can be eliminated to make room for my shoes). Just kidding. Kind of. As far as my carry on and travel bag, I like to think of the things I just couldn’t live without. If my checked bag ends up delayed or lost, do I still have the necessities? Did I pack a couple of outfits to get me through a few days? These are the questions I ask myself. The items in my travel bags are the must-haves and necessities that are easily…

    SAN DIEGO

San Diego has been on my list of places to travel to for a while, and I am so happy I was finally able to go. California is one of my favorite places; beaches, mountains, the city, the Golden state has it all. My friend Ariel recently moved here and as soon as she did, I immediately booked a flight to visit her! Ariel lives in such a great area; twenty minutes away from everything! Downtown, the bay, La Jolla, Mission Beach and Coronado are all under a half hour from her place so it was perfect. DOWNTOWN The first day, we went downtown for brunch and walked around enjoying…

    STAYCATION: THE ADOLPHUS DALLAS

It’s no surprise that I love to travel, but that doesn’t always mean a boarding pass and a flight need to be involved. This past weekend, John and I stayed at The Adolphus in downtown Dallas to celebrate our anniversary and had an amazing time. Staycations are like mini vacations, because you’re still getting the travel and hotel experience but in the comfort of your own city! FUN FACT: The Adolphus was the first Grand Hotel to be built in the heart of Dallas in 1912 and Buckingham Palace actually chose this hotel for the official state visit of Queen Elizabeth in 1991. No big deal. The first thing that…

    WEEKEND IN WILMINGTON, NC

This past weekend, I visited North Carolina for the first time and it did not disappoint! Weddings, friends, sunshine, the beach, count me in. The first day was spent walking along the Riverwalk and checking out downtown Wilmington. We were staying near The Cotton Exchange the first night, which is an area full of shops and restaurants. We grabbed a bite at The Basics; Southern food and the best Pear Sangrias. While a few of our friends went to the rehearsal dinner, John and I went to the Intercostal and grabbed a drink at Fish House Grill. Patio seating right on the water, and the weather was perfect. The Groom’s…

    PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO

Weddings are always a great time, but a wedding in a tropical place like Mexico is bound to be an AMAZING time. And it was. Jacy, one of my best friends from college, decided to have a destination wedding to Peurto Vallarta, Mexico. I have been to Mexico a few times in the past, but never to Puerto Vallarta. With everything going on in Mexico these days, I know I wasn’t the only person who felt a little uneasy about visiting. I talked to a few friends who had just visited, and they told me they felt completely safe during their trip. They were right. We stayed at the Hyatt…

    CHARLESTON

I am always seeking my next adventure, and the holidays usually give everybody more free time to do so. Luckily, I had the weekend off during New Years’ this past year, so John and I decided to travel to a new city! John is a huge history buff and Charleston not only has that southern charm I’ve always wanted to experience, but the city is FULL of history. When I travel, I like to stay in the middle of the action, so I found the perfect place that did just that. We stayed at the Andrew Pinckney Inn, which was walking distance from shops, restaurants, and the ferry tour we…
